Mellow

Mellow Mood, with six locations in three states, is planning on opening its 7th store right downstairs. At a board meeting last night, the owner, flanked by two realtors and sponsored by one board member (the commercial unit owner) discussed his plans for the newest store. The board voted 4-1 in favor of welcoming the new tobacco and pipe shop with the proviso that no scales be available for sale.

  1. How come the board votes to support or not support commercial enterprises? What are the effects that Mellow Moods might have on you? Seems like the kind of place that’s not terrible, but also that nobody wants in his own backyard.

    • According to the bylaws, the board does have the power to intervene in this lease process.

This is one instance where I believe you have more access to information than even Google. Perhaps you will be able to shed some light as to what we might expect. Hopefully they have been very quiet in your neck of the woods and you didn’t even know they were there.

      • They are in the “industrial” part of Moorhead, or as Dad likes to call it, the “lovely, scenic area.” Not too far from Speakeasy, if I’m thinking right.

There is another place called DISCONTENT that is similar, right downtown in Moorhead, and I think it’s going out of business because of all the indecisiveness if we are going to let people sell tobacco and tobacco-type products here or there or everywhere.

  2. What are scales?

    • Measuring scales, used to measure small amounts of ingredients such as additives to tobacco, etc. These additives would, of course, be flavor enhancers used to create special blends. Why the scales would be a potential problem and not the additives escapes me, but I am not an expert in this field. I did learn quite a bit last night though.
